What are your impressions?
There were really not many questions asked. This interview was was about a young girl that lived with her grandmother and now during this interview her grandmother was very ill. So she was reminiscing. She was telling old stories of her grandmother’s childhood. I bet this made the young girl really happy to thing about the good times she had with her grandmother
This story was very interesting in the way she retells her own grand mothers store. It a loving story because she takes pride in the things her grandmother told her and the very kind and sweet thing to do.

What are your impressions?
Track star, Jesse Owens was born into an Alabama farm family. From there, he and his family moved to Cleveland where he found his talent in junior high. He was a runner. His track coach Riley took great interest in him and helped prepare him for the future. After that he climbed his way up. In 1993 he went to Ohio State to extend his path. By 1934 he was on the track team there, and By May 1935, he made himself known as an international runner when he jumped 26 feet 8 1/2 inches, ran the 220-yard low hurdles in 22.6 seconds, and 100-yard dash in 9.4 second. This broke two World records and tied one. He became the first colored caption for Ohio State the following year. That same year he got married. In 1936 Jesse made it on the Olympic team, and won 2 events. His relay team also won in a record breaking time. Afterward he went back to school to finish his studies and helped get colored athletes a better chance in life.
My initial thought after reading this interview was that it was unfair for a human being to work so hard, ,and to have so many accomplishments, and even after proving himself still be discriminated. I think that Jesse Owen’s story is inspiring and that it shows just how people worked even when times were hard. They didn’t give up, no matter what race.

Describe what you read or heard.
What are your impressions?
In the interview, I read about a colored man named Jim Lewis from Alabama. He was interviewed when doing his job, which is collecting rosin from pine trees. He then leaves the buckets near the tree and someone else picks them up. He does this job for the turpentine busniess. Jim also takes any other little jobs he can get to help support his family. during the interveiw Jim saved himself and the interviewer from a deadly snake.
After reading the interveiw abou Jim Lewis, the colored turpentine worker, I thought how hard it must have been for him and his family if he was the main supporter and all he did was the little jobs that he could get. I think that he is a very strong minded up beat man to continue doing what he does even when things look bad for him, and dont seem to be getting better.
